This collaboration brings together two family-run brands with more than a century of history behind each of them. Founded in 1911 and 1920 respectively, Merz b. Schwanen and Dehen share a deep commitment to preserving traditional apparel manufacturing, relying on skilled hands while maintaining methods that have increasingly disappeared from modern apparel production.

Designed in collaboration with Merz b. Schwanen and made in Portland by Dehen 1920, this collaborative Pilot Jacket draws from classic flight jackets and traditional workwear. Its Black shell is cut from a durable 12 oz. dry waxed cotton by Halley Stevensons, who have been producing waxed cotton in Scotland since 1864. Water-repellent, hard-wearing, and designed to develop a rich patina with time and use, the fabric brings another long tradition of manufacturing and craftsmanship to the project.

Vintage-inspired raglan sleeves, a heavy two-way black oxidized brass zipper, and double-welt pockets keep the silhouette clean and functional. Tonal chain-stitch embroidery along the storm flap adds a subtle collaborative detail, while the understated black exterior gives way to an unexpected flash of blue viscose lining sourced from Japan.

Built with purpose and made to age well, this Pilot Jacket represents the common ground between Dehen 1920 and Merz b. Schwanen: a belief in preserving the skills, knowledge, and machines behind traditional garment manufacturing, while continuing to use them to make lasting products for today and into the future.
